About Central University
Raising virtuous and transformational leaders since 1997.
A chartered, values-driven Ghanaian university — from a pastoral training institute to ten schools across three campuses.
Our History
From a pastoral training institute to a chartered university.
Rev. Dr. Mensa Otabil, founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), establishes a short-term pastoral training institute for ICGC ministers.
The institute grows through Central Bible College and Central Christian College into Central University College, with Rev. Kingsley Larbi as its first President.
On 1 March 2016, President John Dramani Mahama grants a Presidential Charter — on the recommendation of the National Council for Tertiary Education and the National Accreditation Board — making the institution a fully autonomous university: Central University.
Institutional accreditation continues under the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), formed that year from the merger of the NCTE and the National Accreditation Board.
Professor Samuel Kwasi Dartey-Baah is inducted as Vice-Chancellor at Trinity Hall, Miotso Campus, for an initial five-year term from 1 September 2025.
