Overview
The BSc in Information Technology with Economics is a single-major programme with Information Technology as the major and Economics as the minor. The programme provides digital and analytical skills to graduates in information technology with a background in economics. It enables graduates to apply technology, artificial intelligence, programming and analytics through economic lenses to support the national developmental agenda.
In an innovative and technologically evolving modern era, there is a growing need for professionals in data science, machine learning, programming and analytics. Students reading Information Technology with Economics will master programming skills with an analytical competence in economics to enable sophisticated applications in data analysis and economic modelling.
Central University is positioned to be strong in applied sciences. In line with this mandate, the Department of Computer Science & Information Technology, together with the Department of Economics and Development Studies, will train students to be industry ready.

Aims of the programme

- Design and implement software and information systems that address organizational and economic challenges.

Admission requirements
General University admission requirements of Central University apply. Applicants must meet one of the following:

| SSSCE | Credit passes (A–D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) electives such as Further Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Physics, Chemistry, Geography and History. |
| GCE Advanced Level | Passes in three (3) subjects (at least one pass Grade D or better). Also credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject (for non-science students) or an Arts subject (for science students). |
| HND | Holders of an HND may be admitted at Level 200 or 300 depending on assessment of the diploma in relation to the programme. |
| ATHE | ATHE Level 3 holders may be admitted at Level 100. |
| Mature applicants | At least 25 years old by 31 December of the year preceding the examination (certified birth certificate required; issue date not less than five years before completing the admission form). GCE O’ Level or SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes in English Language and Core Mathematics (or Special Entrance Examination). Must write the Mature Students’ Entrance Examination (general paper plus two papers in the desired area of specialisation). |
| Foreign applicants | Qualifications equivalent to those above. Results and certificates must be translated into English; applicants must demonstrate ability to read and write in English. Certificates are submitted to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) / GTEC for evaluation and verification. |
