The Central University Library exists to put accurate, current and timely information in your hands — a hybrid collection across nine libraries on three campuses, e-journals and ProQuest e-books through CARLIGH membership, and a professional team of twenty-four ready to help.

Using the Library

Borrowing, simply.

Borrowing & renewals

  • Students, lecturers and staff can borrow books for a set loan period
  • General Collection items may be renewed twice, unless requested by another patron — renew before the due date
  • Inter-library lending: staff will source books from any CU library, or partner libraries, on request
  • Reserve a checked-out book at the Circulation Desk with a valid ID — held for 10 days once returned

House rules

  • Silence at all times; phones on silent
  • No food, smoking or offensive weapons in the Library
  • Seats cannot be reserved
  • Handle materials with care — damage or loss is paid for by the borrower
  • Library staff may inspect items being taken out
